ABOUT ME

Somali-American storyteller, humanitarian, communications strategist, and social entrepreneur who values the connection between community, culture, and society.

Leveraging the human experience for context-driven impact, innovation, and sustainable regenerative development.

I have explored 28 countries and lived in 6 cities across 4 continents, fueling a personal connection to the links between community, culture, and society.

My unique professional background spans the areas of pharmacy, health promotion, education, wellness, project management, strategic communications, and media. Most recently, I led communications and media for inclusive financing to achieve the sustainable development goals in developing countries and emerging markets at the World Economic Forum in Geneva, Switzerland. I’ve also shaped community health literacy programming in rural Belize with the United States Peace Corps, and honed advocacy and strategic partnership expertise at the World Health Organization Headquarters.

Arriving at a crossroads in my career, I recognized the need for a platform and service dedicated to documenting and showcasing human stories as a foundational framework to increase local inclusion and empower communities to define their development priorities and solutions. As a result, I founded Chronicle Health, a creative social impact platform and bespoke strategic advisory firm placing storytelling at the forefront of global health and international development, launching in early 2022.

An 8-year yoga practice has also merged my passion for health and wellness with essential values of empathy and understanding. In between client projects, I offer light-filled spaces for women to explore the physical benefits of yoga while diving into the story that brings them to the mat through digital and in-person yoga classes and workshops.

Throughout my journey, I have lived and worked in Belize, China, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Kenya. I hold a Master of Science in Public Health with a focus on Health Promotion from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a Bachelor of Arts in International Politics and World Affairs with a Certificate in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
